Night time munchies

It’s Saturday night and the kids are at a sleepover, having a movie date night with Hubby and even though I had the greatest spaghetti bolognaise for dinner a few hours ago I am craving ice cream so bad.

The problem, how I am choosing to look at it is that we don’t have any and
A) it’s far too cold and snowing
B) I am far too comfy snuggled on the sofa with hubby
C) I am watching ‘Getaway’ and have a thing for Ethan Hawke!

Diet has won tonight due to my sheer laziness – irony perhaps!

Have a great weekend!!

Day 2 of New Year New Me and I am actually enjoying it!

FullSizeRender

Tracking my steps is really getting me thinking as to how much this body of mine is moving now compared to what used to be normal and spending all day sitting on it with the exception of walking to the car and being quite possibly one of the most sedentary people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

Tonight for instance as I sat down to write this blog post, wondering what picture to upload and noticed I was 1000 steps short of hitting my fitbit target of 10000 and so the last 5 minutes have been spent walking around the house, inserting a few jogging laps of the living room, bolting up and down stairs half a dozen times and feeling so smug with myself when I ground to a halt at 10,012 steps knowing that I had done it for today.

I am feeling very pleased with myself and with going to the gym again this morning for more treadmill, cross trainer and bike with the added 15 minutes of weight training added in, I could have quite happily left it at the 9000 steps knowing I had spent a good amount of my time working out and burning calories today, but no, i pushed myself to make it to that 10000 step total and I am giving myself a huge pat on the back for that knowing I am so much better today than I was yesterday.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with my physio for an ongoing problem I have with my foot, I am crossing my fingers, toes and what ever else I can that he is happy for me to go to the gym straight from my appointment for some more cardio time, however as a contingency I have packed in my gym bag which I am of course taking with me, my swimsuit.

Now I have a love hate relationship with swimsuits, more of a hate relationship as they provide absolutely no hiding place for the fat ass and thighs and tummy, and well arms, usually a strategically placed scarf can give some kind of illusion as to what may or may not be under there however having to walk from the safety of the towel peg to the steps is somewhat daunting when my gyms swimming pool is over looked by the whole of the cafe and I am really not sure if i am ready for that, but if cardio is a no go tomorrow due to foot-gate then swimming is going to be my only other option!

Do cross your fingers for me, I would love to be in my shiny only worn in the gym trainers tomorrow at 11am opposed to the swimming costume that is a size to small and not where I want to be squeezing myself into…it wont be pretty!

Into the gym and out the other side…

FullSizeRender I am so proud of myself for getting into the gym this morning and making myself work so very hard.

I entered the gym with quite a mix of excitement and nervous energy, just going through the turnstiles and heading into the changing room was something of a rush and I found it hard to contain myself as I pushed open the large wooden doors into the main workout area.

A sea of machines greeted me and I headed first for the treadmill where 20 minutes of moderate paced pumping of arms and averaging 5.3kph had me walking to the beat of the fitness mix blasting from my headphones.

I then moved on the the exercise bike for a further 20 minutes of trying to keep up with the beat, I really did enjoy myself and the feeling of sweat running down my back just spurred me on even more

IMG_2556Finishing off my circuit I decided that the cross trainer looked like something I could get a good about of calories burned on, 10 minutes later and I was feeling it in every part of my body, perhaps this is something that I should start with next time as it really did take the most out of me.

I have yet to work out how to put all of my stats into the machines so that I can accurately measure calories and not just hit the ‘Quickstart’ button, but for today I just wanted to get moving and I certainly according to my fitbit data have achieved that!

With today being the first day the kids and hubby are back at work and school I had little time to prepare breakfast for myself and so after my shower I decided to see what the gym had to offer and scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast fit the bill perfectly, I may make this my breakfast of choice on the more manic monday -mornings.

IMG_2558My new shoes and I have done really well today, I can feel a sense of positivity about me and am for the first time in quite a while proud of what I have done today, tomorrow I shall be walking back through those doors and am already excited at the prospect of seeing just what my fitbit has to show me after it is done!

Now for lunch, all this working out and writing about working out has made me hungry!
